Trumansburg
is
on the west side of Cayuga Lake, one of the two largest of 11 Finger
Lakes
of upstate New York. It is about 4.5 hrs from New York, about
5 hrs
from Boston and about 5 hrs from Toronto by land (by fast ferry it
would
probably be about 4 hrs). |

Trumansburg
is
on Rt. 96, which runs northwest from Ithaca to Geneva across the upland
between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes. This is largely an
agricultural
region (including vineyards), but there are large tracts of woodland in
the Finger Lakes National Forest and the now de-commissioned Seneca
Army
Depot. |

The
village of
Trumansburg is within the town of Ulysses at the north edge of Tompkins
County. Trumansburg Creek and Taughannock Creek were lined
with saw
mills and flour mills in the 19th century. Only the
foundations remain. |

McLallen
Street
is on the north side of Main Street, running through what was once the
McLallen farm. There are three McLallen homesteads on
McLallen and
Congress Streets. They, along with their in-laws, the
Tremans, founded
the town. |
