The Cats
| Our cats are not allowed into the guest rooms.
They seem content to wander around on the first floor. As they are
middle-aged they don't do much beyond sleep and eat these days. They
are good-natured animals; if they approach you, they are just looking
to be petted. |

Franny is named for a member of J.D. Salinger's
Glass family. She is the more shy of our two cats. For mysterious
reasons she takes a shine to some guests and comes out to greet them
immediately. Other guests will not see her at all. |
| Zooey (we pronounce
it 'zoo-ee') is Fran's brother - in Salinger's stories and as a matter
of fact - and the more outgoing member of the family. If he is sprawled
where you want to sit, just push him out of the way. He's harmless. |
