Bill taught geology and
palentology at the University of Rochester for five years and did
paleoceanographic research for 13 years, going to sea on ships of
the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (Dartmouth, Canada), Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and the Ocean Drilling
Program.
He was initially attracted to the sciences through natural history and
enjoys leading field trips to explore the natural landscape of the
Finger Lakes region.
After two-and-a-half years in journalism as a reporter and editor he
went "back to science" to write technical reports for a pharmaceuticals
testing lab.
